Our File Shredder was used in a test experiment of deleting thirty video files. File recovery softwares were then used to completely scan the hard drive for any remains. Did they find any trace of our files? Read on then! We used:
PC Tools File Recoverer (www.pctools.com) - Commercial File Recoverer Used In Big Organizations
Recuva (www.pirform.com) - Freeware, nearly as good as PC Tools File Recoverer!
Recuva
We downloaded ans ran Recuva (Created By Pirform), and tested if it could recover our deleted video files. The results were shown, Recuva couldn't find anything, absolutely, any trace of our files were gone, ripped, shredded, destroyed, forever!
Steps: 1. We downloaded and freshly installed Recuva. 2. We scanned the computer using 'DEEP SCAN' (a type of scan that scans every inch of your hard drive). 3. We waited an hour and a half for the scan to complete. 4. We searched for our video files. 5. We couldn't find any digital trace of them!
Conclusion: XetoWare File Shredder is a secure and easy to use file deleter, it took a few seconds to delete the files, and it took Recuva up to an hour to unsuccessfully try to recover the files.
PC Tools File Recoverer
PC Tools File Recoverer is one of the most expensive and commercial file recoverers. We used it to prove our point. Once again, the video files were deleted and wiped using File Shredder, but this time, we decided to make things interesting, we normally deleted some videos and pictures while using XetoWare's File Shredder to delete our other thirty video files. Below is what we did: 1. File Shredder wiped the existence out of the video files 2. PC Tools File Recoverer was used to 'DEEP SCAN' the hard drive. 3. We again, patiently waited for about an hour. 4. We browsed and searched through the results. What did we find? We found no trace of the files that was deleted with XetoWare's File Shredder, however the files that were normally deleted showed up.
